{"id":1048,"date":"2012-02-16T05:24:42","date_gmt":"2012-02-16T05:24:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hickendesign.com\/site\/?p=1048"},"modified":"2012-06-21T21:37:53","modified_gmt":"2012-06-21T21:37:53","slug":"fixed-hp-universal-printing-driver-not-printing-2-sided-in-color-in-windows-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hickendesign.com\/site\/2012\/02\/fixed-hp-universal-printing-driver-not-printing-2-sided-in-color-in-windows-7\/","title":{"rendered":"FIXED: HP Universal Printing Driver Not Printing 2-Sided in Color in Windows 7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I recently spent way too many hours figuring out why our HP Color LaserJet 2605dn printer would not print both 2-sided (duplex) and color.\u00a0 I tried every driver available from HP with no luck.\u00a0 After no help from the internet and quite a bit of fiddling, I discovered a solution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update HP Printer Options<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Start &gt; <strong>Devices and Printers<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Right-click on <strong>HP Universal Printing PCL 6<\/strong> and choose <strong>Printer Properties<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click on the <strong>Device Settings<\/strong> tab<\/li>\n<li>Under <strong>Installable Options<\/strong>, set <strong>Automatic Configuration<\/strong> to <strong>Update Now<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>This should trigger an immediate update from the printer.\u00a0 After doing this update, you should have all of the appropriate setting options available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> to accept and save changes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You may also wish to set your printer defaults so that you don&#8217;t have to set them every time you print.\u00a0 You may wish to leave the printer set to grayscale except when you need color.\u00a0 This saves toner but you have to remember to enable color from the print preferences when you need it.\u00a0 This can be done from the print dialog that appears in most programs after choosing File &gt; Print.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Setting Printer Defaults<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Start &gt; <strong>Devices and Printers<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Right-click on <strong>HP Universal Printing PCL 6<\/strong> and choose <strong>Printer Properties<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Preferences<\/strong> button<\/li>\n<li>Configure all settings appropriately<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> once more<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Did you find this helpful?\u00a0 Do you have similar issues with a different printer?\u00a0 Leave a comment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I recently spent way too many hours figuring out why our HP Color LaserJet 2605dn printer would not print both 2-sided (duplex) and color.\u00a0 I tried every driver available from HP with no luck.\u00a0 After no help from the internet and quite a bit of fiddling, I discovered a solution.
