{"id":801,"date":"2009-06-16T15:28:40","date_gmt":"2009-06-16T15:28:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/markandkelley.com\/mark\/?p=157"},"modified":"2012-01-30T02:37:08","modified_gmt":"2012-01-30T02:37:08","slug":"recovering-data-from-my-failed-macbook-pro-hitachi-hard-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hickendesign.com\/site\/2009\/06\/recovering-data-from-my-failed-macbook-pro-hitachi-hard-drive\/","title":{"rendered":"Recovering data from my failed MacBook Pro Hitachi hard drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was in the middle of working on my MacBook Pro the other night when the hard drive began clicking.\u00a0 The entire system froze and I was forced to power off the machine.\u00a0 When I attempted to power it back on it would not boot.\u00a0 I just got more clicking.\u00a0 For two days this was the story.\u00a0 The drive just would not spin up.\u00a0 So I put in a new hard drive thinking that I would probably toss this drive in the trash.<\/p>\n<p>I spoke to several people about it asking for suggestions on how I might get the drive to work.\u00a0 I heard from 2 unrelated sources that keeping the drive very cool might help so I left it in a zip lock bag in the fridge last night. Then I plugged it in to my desktop machine and after a few clicks it freed up the spindle and spun up!
